We have been in the restaurant business in the Southern Highlands for nineteen years and enjoyed the support of the community during all that time.
We were at the Bowral Hotel as Vin Santo for eight years before moving the business to Mittagong in 2000 where we remained before selling in 2010. We have been back for a year now as Santino's and to celebrate we are offering any incorporated sporting group, charity or school group wishing to hold a group function of 8 or more, Monday to Thursday, between now and November a cheque for 10% of whatever they spend as a donation to their organisation.
We hope that this will be something towards the fund raising efforts of local groups and we look forward to welcoming again many of those who have had functions and celebrations with us in the past. See you soon at Santino's!

We were very surprised to read the results of a recent survey which was commissioned to explore why people aren't dining out as often during the week as they do on weekends. We are keen to reassure some diners that they have got it wrong!
One concern was that if they wanted to go out straight from work, they would need to get dressed up to come to a restaurant. Perhaps it depends on the kind of work you do but for most people straight from work is fine by us. We have a casual and relaxed atmosphere that doesn't require anyone to be "dressed to the nines". For our many customers who are tradies and don't want to sit down in their boots, our take-away service is just the thing and you can relax on our lounge and have a beer while you wait.
Some diners said their budget for a mid-week meal would be $40 or $50 and that this was not enough to go to a restaurant, so they opted for pub food. At Santino's this is enough for a mid-week meal for two that could include, for example, our pizza style garlic bread to start, followed by an entree size pasta of your choice and a shared traditional salad for $24 per head. Add a glass of house wine for $5 while you enjoy our friendly table service and relaxed atmosphere. Or share a large Meat Lovers Pizza and a Wild Rocket Salad for under $18 per head. There are so many options on the Santino's menu and while we have a full range of main courses for more substantial meals, there are plenty of choices to build a delicious, low cost mid-week meal. Our efficient service means you can quickly be on your way again, or choose to unwind, chat and stay a while.
The survey also revealed that diners felt they would need to book if they chose a restaurant so the club or pub was the way to go for a spur of the minute decision to go out for a meal. At Santino's most of our mid-week diners are walk-ins and have arrived without a booking. Some people feel more comfortable if they have booked a table, but everyone receives the same warm welcome at Santino's, booking or not. On the weekend when things are hectic, it is still advisable to book.
A mid-week meal out is a relaxing pause in the busy schedules of most people these days. It's great to know that you can hand over the whole planning, cooking and cleaning up afterwards routine for an evening, and just chill out.
